A quick Ankiel-related tale from the dugout

Smarter, better-informed bloggers have already begun to put up their posts analyzing the HALLELUJAH trade that sent Kyle Farnworth and Rick Ankiel SQUEEEEE I CAN’T HELP BUT YELL IN DELIGHT to Atlanta.

All I have at the moment is this small tale from the dugout. Before one of the two straight double-headers Omaha played last weekend, I was walking through the visitors’ dugout, carrying some stuff out to the field. Two New Orleans players were chatting, and all I heard of their conversation was:

“…and Ankiel swung at every single pitch.”

I suppose I didn’t need to hear anything else, did I?

******

Farewell to Ankiel and Professor Farnsworth. New Royal Tim Collins has been added to the Omaha roster, presumably because we have holes everywhere in Omaha, and NWArk has more pitchers than they know what to do with. Collins takes Mike Moustakas’ spot as the youngest man on the Omaha roster.

Collins brings the Omaha roster to 25 men, so watch for another move to be made to make room for him. Manny Pina was already sent back to NWArk to make room for Lucas May today. I’ll have my camera at the ballpark on Wednesday to visually catch up with all these roster changes!

And what the heck is this feeling? It almost feels like I’m….trusting some sort of….process. This is odd.

    Minda,

You’re gonna love Tim Collins. He’s five-foot nothin’, a hundred and nothin’, and all he does is strike people out.

I had a chance to talk to him for a few minutes and observe him for an afternoon when he was still in New Hampshire, and he comes off as a good kid with a lot of character.
