I attended last night’s Omaha Royals game as media so I could get some footage and photos for a school project. In the 8th inning, Mike Aviles got drilled in the arm by a pitch. Here he is showing manager Mike Jerschele where it hit him.
It was a rough night overall for Aviles, especially on defense. He committed two errors officially, but he also just seemed kind of “off” the rest of the time. He did have one hit – a single in the 6th.
The Royals as a team were anemic at the plate, managing just seven hits and two runs. Kila Ka’aihue singled in a run in the first, and Scott Thorman homered in the 2nd. That…was pretty much it. Well, and Irving Falu walked. THAT was pretty much it. When not even Ka’aihue is walking, that is one very odd night for the offense.
I’m grumpy that this post got gobbled up by….an Internet monster? the first time I tried to post, and I want to end on a less grumpy note, so here’s Scott Thorman crossing the plate after his home run.
Other photos will be shared soon at Royals Prospects, and on my Flickr page.
