To celebrate the fact that Opening Day is really, really close, I’m
going to post something every day that has to do with the number of
days until Opening Day. This is Day 12.
TWELVE: The Royals’ 2008 rank in OBP
That’s in the American League, not all of the Majors. But hey, 12th is NOT last, and that’s something we can begrudgingly celebrate.
I’m not intentionally beating a dead horse here. I know you’re already aware of our fine team’s inability to reach base. But it’s my countdown, darn it, and the number fit! Besides, according to ZiPS projections and a generally agreed-upon 2009 lineup*, the team’s OBP will actually increase… by six points.
Baby steps, people.
*Not the best lineup ever, but it looks like this group of players will see the most at-bats, so it’s the group I used:
