I’ve been added as a contributor to Inside the Majors, a very bookmarkable blog by former Blue Jays AGM Bart Given. My introduction is here, and my first article is here. I will be updating that at least once a week, I think.
I wrote about the O-Royals bullpen struggles – they’ve given up more than a run per inning over the last 11 games – and last night’s game lends credence to my thinking that the Omaha bullpen needs HELP, and help’s name is Chris. Well, two Chrises – Hayes and Nicoll.
While Omaha relievers were coughing up a lead and unable to hold a tie in the 10th, Hayes threw another scoreless inning last night, lowering his ERA to 0.71. There are most assuredly some relievers in Omaha who could be jettisoned (Sorry, Tim Hamulack and Josh Newman, but I think I’m talking about you right now) to make room for both Hayes and Nicoll, right now. So why aren’t they here? And why am I beating the crap out of this dead horse?
